Marriage proposal: surprise during a magical gondola ride

Marriage proposals: it’s a complicated business. You can decide that you want to do it in a private, intimate manner. Or you want to go big and public. A lot of people decide to propose in Venice, while on a romantic trip with their partner. It is such a classic, you can’t go wrong with that. A gondola ride is the absolute best way, because it gives you the privacy and the right amount of magic needed for a question like that.

How to plan a marriage proposal in Venice, if you live in Israel, for example? It is not easy to organize a surprise engagement from another country, especially when you don’t speak Italian nor English. Sami lives in Israel, and he contacted me with the help of his older cousin, days before getting to Venice. Sami, after a long Italian tour through Rome, FlorenceSan Giminiano, finally decided that the best place for a marriage proposal was Venice.

Meytal knew, the moment she stepped on the gondola, that something was going to happen. Sami created a story to justify the presence of a photographer and a videographer, but Meytal was not easily convinced. He waited for a while, joking, making her laugh, and finally showed her the ring and made the question. To celebrate the engagement we had a walk through the most beautiful spots in Venice: San Polo, Rialto, San Marco square. A magnificent orange sunset lit Palazzo Ducale.
